Although loaner instruments remain the vendor’s property, the facility is responsible for paying for their temporary use and maintenance. Hence, facilities must appropriately oversee the cleaning and sterilization of critical, sophisticated loaner instruments. However, the facility may be untrained in the right care, processing,and handling of loaner instruments.
